The Métis Nation - Saskatchewan is a province-wide political organization that represents the interests of approximately 80,000 Métis people in Saskatchewan. The Métis Nation - Saskatchewan ahs the mandate to pursue the rights of the Métis within Saskatchewan and to work towards development of the social, cultural, economic, civil, political and legal rights of the Métis. The Métis Nation - Saskatchewan, formerly the Métis Society of Saskatchewan (MSS) has been in existence in its present form since the late 1960's. In 1976, the name of the MSS was changed to the Association of Métis and Non-Status Indians of Saskatchewan to reflect the inclusion of Non-Status Indians as a distinct membership.
